I ran into Marc Raimondi recently at the Xaverian-St. Anthony's football game. He and a photographer were there covering Xaverian, a Brooklyn CHSFL school off to a surprising start. Raimondi is one of the founders of www.fiveborosports.com, a web site devoted to City high school and college sports.
Raimondi, a St. John's grad, was a sports editor at The Times Ledger of queens before starting Five Boro Sports.com. His partner is Dylan Butler, who has worked for a number of City-based web sites in the past, from MLSnet.com to Big Apple Soccer.com.
The site launched in September and I can tell you it's creating a buzz in the City. And I think it looks great. It also fills a niche. I hope Five Boro Sports.com takes off.
To me, it's an example of where we are headed in journalism.
Anyone interested in starting a similar venture elsewhere, drop me a line. I own my own online media business. I may be able to help in any number of ways, from simple advice to core services such as web design. jmolinet@earlyeditionmedia.com
